Kids at UCI - 11 years old

Here are the kids (Skylar on the left and Jarrod on the right) at the UCI Staff Picnic. Jarrod looks like he is being swallowed by his tee shirt! (For more information on this picture and even, go to my UCI blog at http://suseatuci.blogspot.com)

Adopted Children

This is a picture of an adult manatee cow that I "adopted" at a reserve in Florida. It gave me a very maternal feeling to support such a large but gentle creature. I also adopted a calf but unfortunately it did not return to the reserve the second year. That was devastating to me as they all have names. I will see if I can find a copy of the publication with the names of my adopted "children."

Strawberry Moose Blossom

Strawberry Moose Blossom (aka Blossom) was our first "child". We bought her before we got married with the assumption (erroneous) that we would continue living in the house on Louise Street with Jack's mom. There was a big back yard so no problem for a medium sized dog.
These are pictures of Blossom in the back yard of the Louise St. house in January 1979 - she was 11 weeks old. She was a pedigreed red and white female Bassett Hound. She was a very sweet dog. Her only problem was that she peed much too easily. This was quite apparent when we got to hold her at the pet store but we didn't mind. Jack and I had always wanted a Bassett Hound ever since we saw the tv show "People's Choice."
These are pictures of Blossom as an adult dog. I'm not sure of the dates but the one on the left is at my Mom's house at Christmas time and the one on the right is in our apartment. These were probably taken when she was three or four years old - 1982 or 1983.
This picture of Blossom was taken August 12, 1990. She is eleven years old and showing it. This is after we had our human kids but before Blossom's accident.
